"The Only Place to Stay in the French Quarter" My husband and I plan one trip a year to the French Quarter in New Orleans. We have stayed at places like the Fairmont and Marriott to the smaller boutique hotels in the French Quarter and the Garden District. More than not we try to pick hotels based on their history and/or lore. However, this time we decided to stay at the Royal Sonesta because it always looked beautiful and they offered the "French Quarter Romance" package which we highly recommend without a doubt. Not only is the hotel quite nice, especially the pool and courtyard, but the service was impeccable all around. This is the 6th hotel we have stayed in and we will stay at the Royal Sonesta from now on. Our room was large, neat and very clean, with French doors opening up to the balcony that overlooked the courtyard and only a few steps to the pool which also has an outdoor bar. Did I mention how comfy and plush the beds are? They also offer valet parking at $30 a day which is worth every penny. Dinner for two at Beques restaurant located within the hotel was included in our package. The food was right out of Gourmet magazine and delicious, and the service was very attentive but never overbearing. The proximity of the hotel was perfect. However, I do recommend booking a room facing the courtyard/pool if you want to avoid the revelers on Bourbon St. I could go on and on raving about this hotel. You can shop around online for other hotels in the area, but in the end you will end up paying around the same amount of money no matter where you go. The difference is that staying at the Royal Sonesta you won't leave disappointed. Lastly, I would definitely look into the packages they offer. They're well worth it.
